How to Change a Battery on a Skoda Fabia Car

The Skoda Fabia car is a vehicle manufactured by Czech automaker Skoda Auto. The car was introduced in 1999. Unlike many automobiles, the battery on the Fabia uses a lower or bottom-battery mount instead of the traditional battery tie down which is normally located on the top of the battery. This can make it somewhat confusing if you need to change the battery. Fortunately, the procedure is relatively straightforward.

Step 1 - Loosen the nut on the cable clamp running to the negative battery terminal using a socket wrench and 10mm socket. Slide the negative battery terminal clamp off the terminal.

Step 2 - Loosen the nut on the positive cable clamp nut with a socket wrench and 10mm socket and slide the clamp off the terminal.

Step 3 - Remove the bolt at the base of the battery using a socket wrench and 13mm socket.

Step 4 - Pull the battery straight up out of the battery compartment and install the new battery.

Thread and tighten the lower retaining bolt. Then reconnect the positive battery cable and the negative battery cable, in that order.

THINGS YOU'LL NEED: socket wrench, 10mm socket, 13mm socket

WARNINGS: Always connect the negative cable to the negative battery terminal last.
