How to Aim the Headlights on a 1982 Chevrolet Pickup

The headlights on your 1982 Chevrolet pickup truck can be adjusted using adjustment screws on the headlight housing assembly. The screw on the top of the housing assembly adjusts the headlight beam vertically. The screw on the inside edge of the housing assembly adjusts the headlight beam horizontally. Adjustment of the headlights is normally only necessary when you have just replaced the headlight housing assembly. Adjust the headlights high enough that you can see far enough down the road to drive safely at night, but not so high that you blind oncoming traffic.

Tools Used: Screwdriver

Aim Headlights

Park your Chevrolet truck so that it is facing a closed garage door, 25 feet away from the door.

Turn the headlights on.

Open the hood and turn the adjustment screw on the top of the headlight housing assemblies until the center of the headlight beam sits at the bottom of the garage door where the door meets the ground.

Turn the screw on the inside edge of each housing assembly until both headlight beams overlap by approximately 50%.
