1987 Chevrolet Chevette Rear Seat Removal Instructions

The 1987 Chevrolet Chevette was originally brought onto the market as an economical option for many car buyers. However, in a car as old as your 1987 Chevrolet Chevette, maintenance is a fact of life. When the material of your back seat cracks or rips, or otherwise becomes damaged, as well as certain wiring tasks, removing the rear seat of your Chevette may be necessary. Fortunately for the do-it-yourself mechanic, this process is easy.

This process does not require tools.

Remove Rear Seat

Move the seat into its upright position, pull the right pivot support bolt out by hand. The bolt will be on the lower, right-hand frame and will have a thick, black plastic knob on the end for you to grasp.

Unlock the seat with its lever, then lower the back of the seat so that it is lying down. This will essentially fold your seat in half.

Pull the seat forward and to the right to disengage the left pin support. The left pin is on the lower frame, on the left side.

Remove the seat.
