How to Make Subwoofers Hit Harder

Many audio enthusiasts crave a stereo that can hit hard. Hitting hard refers to the sound output of a subwoofer. A hard-hitting subwoofer will be crisp, powerful and loud. The sound out of a hard-hitting subwoofer is not only heard, but also felt. To achieve this goal, there are several adjustments that can be made to a stereo system. While these changes may be pricey at times, they can have a very positive effect on the performance of a subwoofer.

Step 1 - Choose the correct amplifier for the subwoofer. Every type of subwoofer requires a certain power output by an amplifier. Matching up the power requirement of the subwoofer to the output of an amplifier can make the subwoofer hit harder.

Step 2 - Install the subwoofer in a bandpass box. A bandpass box is a type of subwoofer box that, when used with certain subwoofers, can maximize sound output. Consult the manufacturer's manual of the subwoofer to determine if a bandpass box is an appropriate option.

Adjust the settings on the amplifier and stereo unit to accommodate the subwoofer. While every amplifier and stereo unit are different, they typically contain features to fine-tune the audio settings. Adjusting these settings to appropriate levels can allow the subwoofer to hit harder.
