How Do I Change 400 Prairie Oil?

The Kawasaki 400 Prairie is an ATV with a 399 cc four-stroke engine. The crank-case holds 2 1/2 quarts of Kawasaki four-stroke ATV engine oil. This ATV does not have an oil filter installed on it because the oil needs to be changed about every 15 to 20 hours of riding as stated in the owner's manual. You will need basic tools and you can buy the replacement engine oil from a Kawasaki ATV dealer.

Step 1 - Place the drain pan under the drain nut on the bottom of the crankcase. Allow the engine to cool before proceeding.

Step 2 - Remove the drain nut using the ratchet and socket. Drain the engine oil into the drain pan and then replace the nut to the crankcase.

Remove the small black oil cap from the side of the engine. Pour the replacement engine oil into the crankcase and then replace the oil cap.
