1965 Ford Mustang Windshield Trim Installation Instructions

Replacing the trim around the windshield of your '65 Mustang is a great way to clean up the look of your classic auto. New trim will also help protect the windshield and the frame against corrosion. If the trim is cracked, is starting to break off or is aging in spots, these are signs that it is time to replace it. The job shouldn't take you very long, and all you will need are a few basic tools that you likely already have around the house.

Tools Used: Safety goggles, Gloves, Needle-nose pliers, Rubbing alcohol, Clean cloth

Install Windshield Trim

Put on your safety goggles and gloves.

Pull off any existing trim, using the needle-nose pliers. If there are small metal clips holding the trim in place, remove those with the pliers before pulling off the trim.

Clean any dust particles and dirt from the windshield frame, using a hand-held vacuum or a clean cloth. Pour rubbing alcohol onto a cloth and wipe it along the perimeter of the windshield. This will ready the windshield frame surface for adhesion.

Place the new windshield trim into the windshield frame. If you are using trim with an adhesive, be sure to place the trim evenly along the edge the first time around, as you will not be able to adjust it easily once in place. Windshield trim without adhesive should stay securely in place.
