How to Program a Key Fob on a 2006 Chevrolet HHR

The Chevy HHR is a retro style sport utility vehicle. The HHR stands for "Heritage High Roof." The HHR first came out in 2005, and Chevy has churned a new model out each year since. The HHR comes with remote controlled locks which means that you can unlock or lock the doors with the touch of a button. Reprogramming the key takes less than five minutes and requires the use of a working key.

Step 1 - Insert your working key into the ignition.

Step 2 - Turn the engine on and then shut if off again. Remove the key from the ignition.

Step 3 - Insert your new key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position. You must do this within 30 seconds of removing the first key.

Start your engine ten seconds after inserting the key. The engine will start and you have programmed the new key.
