How to Remove the Front Bumper on a 1988 Honda CRX

If you want to install an aftermarket body kit on your 1988 Honda CRX, you will need to remove the front bumper of the vehicle. The front bumper will also need to be removed if you want to replace the headlights on the vehicle. The front bumper is attached using a combination of screws and bolts that will need to be removed before the front bumper will come off.

Tools Used: 10 mm socket wrench, Phillips head screwdriver, Jack stands (optional)

Remove Front Bumper

Remove the marker lights or bumper lens from both sides of the front fender. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws that secure the marker lights to the fender.

Remove the bulbs for the marker lights from the sockets.

Remove the two 10 mm bolts located behind the marker lights or bumper lens with the 10 mm socket wrench.

Locate the four screws on the inside of the fender lip. Look on the inside of the fender right by the tire. There will be two screws on each side of the fender.

Remove the screws on the inside of the fender lip with the Phillips head screwdriver.

Pull on the bumper on each corner where you removed the screws to separate it from the front of the vehicle.

Tips & Warnings

Set the vehicle on jack stands to easily access the screws on the inside of the fender.
