How to Change the Oil in a Grizzly 450

A Grizzly is a large All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) with a 399cc fuel-injected, four-stroke engine. The engine oil must be changed in this ATV about every 20 hours of riding to help ensure that the engine stays in proper running order. The way that the engine has been set up makes changing the engine oil a simple and quick job to perform. You will only need basic tools to complete this job and it will take you about 10 to 15 minutes to get it done.

Step 1 - Run the engine for five minutes to warm the engine oil. Warm engine oil will drain more quickly.

Step 2 - Place the drain pan under the plug on the bottom of the engine. Remove the plug using the socket and ratchet. Drain the oil into the pan and then replace the plug onto the bottom of the engine.

Step 3 - Remove the oil filter from the top of the crankcase by twisting it. Replace the old filter with the new one. Remove the cap from the side of the engine and insert the funnel into the hole.

Pour the replacement oil into the funnel and then remove the funnel from the hole. Replace the cap onto the engine.

THINGS YOU'LL NEED: Drain pan, 5/8-inch socket, Ratchet, Funnel, Replacement oil, Replacement oil filter, 2 1/2 qts. 5W40 four-stroke oil
