How to Locate the Flasher on a 1989 Chevrolet Camaro

The flasher is an essential component in the lighting system on the 1989 Chevrolet Camaro. The flasher works with with other components to control the turn signals on your vehicle. Check the flasher if your emergency or signal lights fail.

This process does not require tools.

Locate Flasher

Location

There are two flashers on the 1989 Chevrolet Camaro. The turn-signal flasher is mounted on the passenger's side of the steering column, near the driver's dashboard. The hazard-light flasher is mounted in the convenience center behind the instrument panel, near the steering column.

Function

The flasher is a type of circuit-breaker used to control the turn signals and hazard-signal lights on your vehicle. The light-signal circuit is disrupted if the flasher breaks; this causes your directional lights to stop working.

Troubleshooting

A broken flasher cannot be fixed or repaired, and must be replaced. Locate and remove the old flasher, and then replace it with a new one.
